			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The past few weeks, I&#8217;ve been configuring a VPS I&#8217;ve rented from the guys at <a href="http://www.arpnetworks.com/">ARP Networks</a>. This post isn&#8217;t supposed to be a plug for their excellent service and value, but let me just mention they actually have a <em>channel</em> on <em>freenode</em>. How great is that?</p>
<p>Anyway, on a VPS you should do anything you can to minimize resource usage &#8211; because it&#8217;s just nicer that way. This was a good chance for me to scrap apache httpd, which in all honesty is a bit like the Hummer of web servers. Figure out the perfect analogy yourself, apache is heavy.</p>
<p>There are, as I understand, two primary choices. nginx and lighttpd.</p>
<p>One of them is needlessly inflexible and complex, the other is simple and flexible but is being ruined by community-related issues. Which should I pick? How does one pick between semantical hell and a school yard?</p>
